How to organize medical bills and EOBs

A simple system that makes every phone call easier.

Keep one folder — paper or digital — per visit or per episode of care. Put the bill, the EOB and any letters for that date of service together.

Match each bill to its EOB by date of service and provider name. A bill with no matching EOB may mean the claim hasn't been processed yet.

Keep a short log of every call: date, who you spoke to, what they said and any reference number. It saves a lot of repeating yourself later.

Have a bill and an EOB that don't match?

Upload both and the Detective will compare them line by line and explain any potential discrepancies in plain English.
